Wave Esports bench Zik, Carcass, SEIDER; looking for new trio

Wave Esports VALORANT team have announced that they have entered a rebuilding phase. Wave have let go of Sigurd “Zik” Jensen, Robertas “Carcass” Mikuckis, and Mathias “SEIDER” Seider. They have also announced that they are actively looking for a new in-game leader, duelist, and sentinel player. Lastly, the team’s analyst, Sam “Forrest” Forrest, will be taking up the position of team manager.

Dwindling VCT Achievements

Wave’s first breakthrough on the European VALORANT stage was at VCT Stage 1 Challengers 1 when the team overcame Fnatic. This sent them straight to Challengers 2, where they were bested by Alliance. Their last at an entry to Masters 1 was at Challengers 3. There, they were defeated by Guild Esports and denied further competition at VCT Stage 1.

From there, Wave’s impact during VCT Stage 2 and 3 drastically dwindled. Their VCT run at Stage 2 left a lot to be desired after their losses to NIP and then pact in the Qualifier Play-In and the Qualifier Playoffs respectively. Stage 3 Challengers 1 saw Fnatic getting revenge for their loss to Wave at Stage 1. Wave rallied in the Challengers 2 event but were defeated by Team Vitality in the Lower Bracket, effectively getting knocked out of contention for Masters Berlin.

Other Events

Wave VALORANT have accumulated some accolades in other competitions however. From more notable events, Wave have triumphed at epic.WAN 32 and Kingdom Calling #2. They have also a final at Nerd Town Masters 2021 lined up against IVY on September 5.

It’s fair to say that Wave showed great potential early on at VCT. While having some 1st place finishes in minor events is something to show for, results at VCT is what really counts in the end. It is clear that Wave aspires to be among the best and therefore have decided to bench the trio and look to rebuild.

Wave Esports are left with Nico “nico” Neumann and Murat “murii” Korkomaz on their VALORANT team as they look for three new players.
