Team Vodafone Giants has received a one-map loss in its next VALORANT Champions Tour match in response to using an in-game exploit in their previous match.
During the VCT EU Stage 3 Challengers 1 Open Qualifier, Giants faced the bref roster and won the match 2-1. Giants closed the match on Breeze with a 13-7 victory. However, the team used an in-game exploit that provided an unfair advantage.
Giants’ Cypher player Johan “Meddo” Renbjork Lundborg placed Cypher’s camera in a glitched spot above A site. This position allows Cypher to see enemies exiting A main, but they cannot see the camera. Meddo used the camera multiple times in the match, which created an unfair advantage for his side.
The bref roster compiled evidence against Giants, proving they used an in-game exploit in an official VCT match. The VCT staff reviewed the evidence and the situation and confirmed Giants violated the 7.2.6 Exploiting rule. The rule is as follows:
“Intentionally using any in-game bug to seek an advantage is exploiting and is prohibited. Exploiting includes acts such as making use of any game function that, in the Tournament Operator’s sole judgement, is not functioning as intended and violates the design purpose of VALORANT. Team members may confidentially check with the referee at the beginning of a Competition to determine if a specific act would be considered Exploiting. Riot reserves the right to make an ex-post-facto determination of whether an exploit has occurred.”
In response to this violation, Giants will receive a one-map loss in their next VCT match. They were knocked out of the Challengers 1 Open Qualifier by Rix.GG Thunder, so the punishment will not take effect until the next Challengers event open qualifiers.
