Kim “Zest” Gi-seok, a member of the core Vision Strikers VALORANT roster, is due to leave on a prolonged medical leave due to health issues, Vision Strikers announced on Twitter.
The news comes in a rather unpleasant time for the South Korean VALORANT team. VCT Korea Stage 3: Challengers is currently ongoing with Vision Strikers playing their quarterfinals matchup against GochuGaru on July 16. Victory will give the team strong seeding in the main group stage event before heading to the playoffs. There, two spots await for Masters Berlin participation.
Vision Strikers have re-signed Kim “Lakia” Jong-min quite recently. The move came after their nemesis, NUTURN Gaming, replaced Lakia with Choi “10X” Jin-woo rather unexpectedly. What’s more, Vision Strikers have signed Byungchul “BuZz” Yu and Myeongkwan “MaKo” Kim after Kim “glow” Min-soo retired from competitive play (but rejoined as a coach soon after).
The signings resulted in a 7-player roster being created. However, with Zest going on medical leave, the roster has been temporarily reduced to 6 players. That still gives Vision Strikers one player to spare on certain occasions if they wish.
Unfortunately, we received no information on how long Zest‘s medical leave will last. Nor do we know what is the exact reasoning of his health complications. Nevertheless, we wish Zest a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on stage stronger than before.
