Just a couple days after Riot announced the Ignition Series, T1 and Nerd Street Gamers announced the first North American tournament to be part of Ignition, dubbed the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown. This follows shortly after G2’s announcement of their own EU Ignition Series tournament.

The hot details on the showdown

The T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown features a $50k prize pool split across 16 teams with first place getting $25k. The first invited team is T1’s own Valorant roster with 11 more free spots for other teams.

The tournament will take place on June 26-28 with two qualifier events on June 20 and June 21. The teams in the qualifier will compete for four open spots in the tournament as well as a part of an extra $1,500. The qualifiers are open to anyone who thinks they have what it takes to go against top Valorant players, streamers and influencers.

On top of the competition, T1 and Nerd Street Gamers will host “special programming elements” including interviews with Riot and T1 personnel. All of the action will be broadcast live on Twitch.

More recently, Nerd Street Gamers and T1 hosted the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Invitational during the Valorant closed beta. The Invitational featured a smaller $25,000 prize pool but an impressive roster of ex-CSGO pros and personalities. T1 also picked up an impressive all-star roster as well as a roster for their up-and-coming Academy team.
