The CS:GO to Valorant train is still going strong as T1 just annnounced that Timothy “autimatic” Ta joined the team as their sixth player.
Many know autimatic for his three year stint as part of Cloud9’s roster in CSGO. The team saw a lot of success with autimatic under their wing, winning ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2017, iBUYPOWER Masters 2017, and ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 among others. In December of 2019, Gen.G Esports signed him and some of his teammates.
That roster saw limited success and eventually all of their players were either acquired by other teams, or in autimatic‘s case, retired.
T1 finalized their roster in October when ex-Overwatch pro Ha “Spyder” Jung-woo joined the team. Since then, their performance has been lukewarm at best. The team barely managed to qualify for First Strike NA, placing 5th-8th at the NSG qualifier and 3rd-4th at the UMG qualifier. At the First Strike NA event itself, they fell to 5th-8th place after losing to 100 Thieves. They even tried their hand at the VCT NA Challengers 1 Qualifier, but placed 9th-16th.
The Reddit community has spotted something interesting regarding T1’s roster for the VCT NA Challengers 2 Qualifier. While autimatic is present, Braxton “brax” Pierce, who was the first player to sign for T1, is not. Another missing name is that of Keven “AZK” Larivière, the second player to join the roster. Instead there is “tier2 valpro ego#Sexy”. Eagle-eyed Redditors quickly realized that this might be Rahul “curry” Nemani’s alternate name. Curry is a CS:GO pro who currently plays for Rebirth Esports in ESEA Premier.
