SicK to take extended leave; Rawkus to fill in at Sentinels

Via the official Twitter account of Sentinels, the VALORANT team has announced that Hunter “SicK” Mims will be taking “an extended leave of absence to attend to an on-going family matter.” The team’s coach, Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty, will step-in for SicK for the remainder of the on-going VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2 Challengers event in North America.

Sentinels are bleeding at VCT

Sentinels have got off to a less-than-desirable start at Stage 2 Challengers group stage, let alone at the VCT in 2022. Placed in Group B, Sentinels currently occupy the last spot (6th), without attaining a single win so far in their group. In order for Sentinels to have a chance at qualification for the playoffs, they’d need to defeat their two next opponents, FaZe Clan and Cloud9. On top of that, the stars would have to allign when it comes to the outcome of other matches. Check out this explanation if you’d like to find out more.

Without SicK, Sentinels are put in even a more dire situation. Luckily, Rawkus does have competitive experience as a player in VALORANT having competed in FaZe Clan most recently. While it is not ideal, having a coach slot in with competitive experience is a plus. Nevertheless, Sentinels are definitely in a tight spot overall moving forward.
