This guide demonstrates 3 Recon Bolt lineups on the map Ascent that will help you use this powerful ability to its full potential on attack.
Sova’s Recon Bolt ability can be used in many effective ways, and out of Sova’s kit, has the most potential to impact the game. Well placed Recon Bolts can allow your team to make aggressive plays, as well as having the ability to gain valuable information to assist with rotates. It is also a very useful tool for retaking bombsites.
The first Recon Bolt lineup in this guide will demonstrate how you can place a Recon Bolt high above the A-site, revealing almost positions on site and parts of Heaven. The second Recon Bolt lineup will assist your team when taking control of Middle, revealing the top of Middle and parts of A-short. The last Recon Bolt lands towards the back of the B-site, providing useful information on the back lane towards the site.
Sova’s Recon Bolt Ability:
In order to perform this lineup you will need to position yourself up against the barrel in the back corner outside of A-lobby. You will then need to place your crosshair as highlighted by the blue circle in the second image. Once you’ve lined this up you can then charge the shot into the third bar, with bounces set to zero.
The Recon Bolt lands high up above the site, providing your team with valuable information on almost all the positions on site. This could be combined with an execute onto the A-site to great effect. This Recon Bolt will also partially reveal players on Heaven.
In order to perform this lineup you will need to place your crosshair on the top right corner of the air-conditioning unit up on the wall. You will then need to fully charge the shot and have bounces set to zero.
This is a fairly simple lineup, but it can be used in combination with a smoke for the top of Middle. If the Recon Bolt gets a scan off you will then be able to spam through the walls at the top of Middle, if there is an enemy there. It will also reveal most of A-short.
This lineup will require you to position yourself outside of the B-lobby, with your crosshair placed in the middle of the crate on the ground. You can then use the box of the left-click icon, highlighted by the blue circle in the second image. You will need to line this box up with the corner of the window to get the perfect lineup. From this position you will need to charge the shot into the second bar, with bounces set to zero.
This Recon Bolt will reveal a significant portion of the site, as well as players rotating in through Spawn. This Recon Bolt can also be used very effectively as part of an execute onto the B-site.
For anyone playing Sova as one of their main agents, it’s always good to know as many Recon Bolt lineups as possible, both for attack and defense. Before you utilize those in a ranked game, it’s definitely worth practicing them once or twice in a private match. This will also help you to remember them when going into a rated matchup.
