Johnta announced as One Breath Gaming coach

One Breath Gaming is making moves to ensure they qualify for Champions through the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. OBG has not played an official series since July 31, 2021, but it is clear they are working as hard as they can behind the scenes before the EMEA LCQ begins. That hard work may pay off if the same can be said about their recent signing. Ivan “Johnta” Shevtsov has joined One Breath Gaming as their coach.
Johnta has proven to be one of the best coaches in EMEA and possibly all of VALORANT. Starting with FunPlus Phoenix, he helped them to a 3rd-4th place finish at First Strike. That was followed by various VCT Challengers qualifier victories and a 3rd-4th place end to EU Stage 1 Masters.
After falling short in the Stage 2 Challengers Finals prior to Masters Reykjavik, Johnta moved to Team Heretics. The success was not matched, however, and he was benched on September 24, 2021 along with Amine “Amilwa” Saidi and Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski.
Just before One Breath Gaming announced him as their LCQ coach, Johnta took to Twitter with a message of his own. He was released from Team Heretics and revealed the agreement with One Breath Gaming.
Both his and the organization’s announcements indicate that this is not a long term deal. They state the coaching assignment is simply for the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier, where OBG starts the bracket against the always dangerous Team Liquid.
It is unknown if Johnta will remain with the team past the LCQ. If OBG performs well, possibly even taking the spot at Champions, there is no doubt that the team will want to keep him on board. That situation is very much “wait and see” at this point.
