Neil “neilzinho” Finlay, the coach for G2 Esports’ VALORANT team, has announced via Twitter that the organization has allowed him to seek new opportunities for the 2022 season. The news comes after the team’s failure to qualify for Champions at the EMEA LCQ as well as a very disappointing showing at the recent Red Bull Home Ground 2.

Coach neilzinho departs G2 Esports

Coach neilzinho joined G2’s VALORANT team in mid-January of 2021. Before joining G2, neilzinho was the head coach of Rix.GG. However, his roots lie in Counter-Strike, where he competed as a player at Source, but transitioned to a coaching position throughout Global Offensive.

While G2’s VALORANT squad has had its ups and downs throughout 2021, it’s fair to say they were continuously a team to watch out for at tourneys and qualifiers. All under the watch of neilzinho.

However, despite a rather recent roster change involving Cista “keloqz” Wassim, Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas, Jose “koldamenta” Luis Aranguren Herrero, and Auni “AvovA” Chahade, neilzinho may not be the only one on his way out. Various reports suggest that keloqz and koldamenta may be departing the team. In their place, players from Vodafone Giants are being taken into account.

On top of that, there are ongoing rumors of Daniil “pipson” Meshcheryakov taking neilzinho’s coaching spot at the G2 VALORANT roster.
