Cypher Camera Spots: Icebox – Defensive Setups

These three defensive Cypher camera spots for the map, Icebox, will allow you to gain valuable information on your enemies’ positions, without alerting them. The guide outlines three defensive camera positions for Cypher players to use.

Having early information provided by Cypher’s cameras is incredibly valuable, as it will allow you to rotate to other sites when necessary, as well as being able to call for teammates to rotate in quickly. It will also ensure that you are in position when the enemies do push your bombsite, as you have had an early warning beforehand.

Cypher’s Abilities

Cypher’s signature ability is the ‘Spycam’, which allows this Valorant agent to place a camera down on the map, anywhere within line-of-sight and range. After placing the camera down, you can activate it again in order to view the video feed. This grants vision from the camera’s position, providing you with valuable information, without any of the risks of dying attached.

The key to this ability is placing the camera in positions that aren’t easily visible to the enemies. This will allow you to gather information about the enemy, without them even being aware of it, giving your team a huge advantage. The camera is also able to fire a dart at enemies, which grants your team vision of the player hit. For camera positions that are difficult for the enemies to spot, it’s often better to ignore this dart ability and just use the camera for reconnaissance.

Cypher’s other abilities include:

  • Cyber Cage – Throws down a Cyber Cage that requires a manual detonation to activate. The Cyber Cage blocks vision, similar to a smoke, as well as slowing enemies passing through it. This ability costs 100 credits and you are able to purchase two of them.
  • Trapwire – Places a destructible and invisible Trapwire at the targeted location. This creates a line that spans between the placed location and the wall opposite. Enemy players who cross a Trapwire will be tethered, revealed, and dazed after a short period if the device is not destroyed. This ability can be picked up and reused if it has not been triggered or destroyed. This ability costs 200 credits and you are able to purchase two of them.
  • Neural Theft (Ultimate) – Using this ability on a dead enemy player’s body will reveal the location of all living enemies.

Cypher Camera Spots: Icebox

A-site: In order to place this camera you will need to jump as you place it. From this position the camera provides valuable information from multiple entrances to the site.

Middle: This camera position is incredibly hard to spot and will be essentially impossible for the enemy team to destroy early on. You can position yourself on the ramp and wait to spot enemies through the gap above the ramp. This will also allow you to rotate towards the other sites if needed, while still having information on the defensive side of Middle.

B-site: This is a fairly straight forward camera position that provides vision from more than one entrance to the B-site. The enemy team will also have to come quite far into the site in order to spot it.

These camera spots are fairly easy to implement into your gameplay, however, we do recommend that you hop into a custom match to perfect them. Especially the ones that require you to jump to place them. Practising them beforehand will also help you to remember them the next time you decide to play as Cypher.
