Cloud9 Blue have announced that they are parting ways with their head coach, Ash “Chu” Long. Their assistant coach, James “JamezIRL” Macaulay, will be taking up the head coach position instead.

Chu joined the Cloud9 Blue Valorant team back in September as their first coach. Prior to Valorant, he was a coach for Team Envy’s Overwatch team. He has announced in a Twitlonger that he would step away from competitive FPS games and relearn League of Legends, where his passions for esports started.

JamezIRL came to Cloud9 Blue at the same time as Chu. Before Valorant, he was a professional player, coach, and analyst in CS:GO. Some of his notable coaching positions include GX, Torqued, Ghost Gaming, and Cloud9.

Cloud9 Blue was most recently eliminated from the First Strike NA – UMG Tournament by T1 in the Quarterfinals. Their Korean brothers qualified for First Strike Korea, where they will face Crazy Hamster in the Quarterfinals. The all-female Cloud9 White did not fare as well and were eliminated by Slimy Boogermen.

Cloud9 has not announced whether they will get another assistant coach or if they will just stick with a head coach this time around.
